Welcome, I’m Nicole Puckering, owner of Calm Waters Clinical Counselling and a Registered Clinical Counsellor based in Nanaimo, BC.  I bring over 15 years experience supporting children, youth and families navigate times of crisis and challenges. I have specialized training in therapeutic modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Self-Compassion, Solution-Focused Therapy, Prepare/Enrich couples’ facilitator and Complex Trauma. As an Indigenous counsellor, I understand and respect the complexities and uniqueness of supporting individuals, families and generational trauma.  I offer diverse and effective interventions by using a culturally sensitive, attachment-based and trauma-informed approach.

Do you often feel weighed down by feelings of anxiety or depression?  Are you finding it difficult to make friends, or maintain relationships and experiencing loneliness as a result? Is the day-to-day stress feeling unbearable where you lack the energy to do anything?

My passion lies in supporting adolescents, adults, elders, and couples facing challenges related to relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, stress, burnout, while enhancing communication and boundaries. I provide guidance to individuals and couples on their journey toward fostering healthier thought processes and behaviors using values-based methodologies. Recognizing the significance of self-exploration for personal growth and transformation, I emphasize the importance of gaining personal insights to facilitate change. My belief is that by providing a warm and inviting empathetic safe space, my clients will feel valued and understood. Together we will create goals to help you achieve the life that you have always valued by increasing independence, communication, coping skills, self-compassion and personal growth.
